2 PARKING: SECURE CYCLE LOCKERS
2.1 The [Organisation] will make secure cycle lockers available at different locations around the site[s].
2.2 Other locker, changing facilities and showers can be made available: please seek advice from [manager].
2.3 The [Organisation] recognises that staff who usually cycle to work may occasionally need to come to work by car. For that reason, staff who take up the offer of secure cycle locker will be able to retain their car parking swipe card.
3 CYCLE AND EQUIPMENT LOANS
3.1 The [Organisation] will make a grant of £50 and an interest free loan of up to £250 to staff to assist with the purchase of a bicycle, all weather gear, lights, security and safety equipment, and panniers, bags and so on. Contact the [Director of Personnel] for further details.
4 EXPENSES WHILST CYCLING ON BUSINESS
4.1 The [Organisation] will pay 12 pence per mile (rising to 20 pence per mile after 1 April 2002) to staff cycling on [Organisation] business during the course of their working day. The guideline is that cycling is suitable for single trips of up to 5 miles, or 30 minutes'door-to-door journey time. A manager's permission is required for trips that are longer.
5 CYCLING ROUTES
5.1 The [Organisation] will work with other agencies and organisations interested in promoting cycling to produce a map specific to the site[s] that indicates best (safest, most convenient, most traffic-free) cycling routes to and from the [Organisation's] site[s].
6 CYCLE LEASING AND MAINTENANCE
6.1 The [Organisation] will actively pursue the establishment of a cycle leasing scheme and an on-site maintenance and repairs service to be provided by a suitably qualified cycle company.
7 COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS
7.1 The [Organisation] welcomes comments and suggestions about its cycling policy, which should be made to the [Manager] and which will be brought to the attention of the [Organisation's] Transport Working Group.
